The Underkeeper, AKA Dust Warden, AKA The Necropolite

This place has been occupied, infested, overrun, purged, reoccupied, held, traded and colonised for over two hundred and fifty years; It should come as no surprise that the necropolis beneath is expansive.

Everyone knows what happens to bodies burned to ASH or buried in the poisoned soil. No animal would pick at the corpse of a people whose sin marks are written into every sinew, every scrap of hair, every shard of bone.

And so we are buried beneath – As the city inches its way forward, straining on its remaining digits – The necropolis is built below. To the Dust Wardens falls this great and unending task: The city doesn’t move quickly but it never seems to sleep… or perhaps it never wakes up, either way new tombs must be excavated from the earth, old ones moved lest they are though to have been left behind.

Everyone knows what happens to bodies burned to ASH or buried in the poisoned soil

This is true:
Dead that are left behind have a troubling tendency to draw close
